FAQ

This is a section for questions I’ve been asked. Some have been posted as comments, others have been comments directed at me otherwise. I will add to this page as more crop up.

  • Q: Why did you change the names?
  • A: In short, for “legal reasons”.
  • Q: Aren’t you afraid somebody will find it?
  • A: Bring it on.
  • Q: Why the strong language?
  • A: At the time of this question, there were a grand total of two of the classic “cuss words” present on my blog. Nonetheless, I feel that it warrants an answer. In one case, I simply quoted a student (such language which I will elaborate on in the next answer). In another, I felt the turn of phrase appropriate for my style and target audience. I not only feel that these are valid reasons, I also feel that they are important ones.
  • Q: Why do you use African-American vernacular so much?
  • A: Because so many of these students are African-Americans who speak it, and it is a part of their distinctiveness. To not include it, I feel, would be to rob my writing both of these students’ voices and some of its linguistic value.
  • Q: Why do you use WordPress?
  • A: For a few reasons. First and foremost, because it was required by my ED331-16 teacher. While I do have a personal blog up on Blogger, though, I decided once I was writing these posts every day, that I didn’t want them to take over my personal blog, or lost in other, less-relevant posts. This lets me keep all of my College of Education material in one place, seperate from everything else. I may just move it all here, though.
